Reimagining the experiential component of X Games competitions, global private equity firm MSP Sports Capital bought a majority interest in X Games from ESPN Productions in late October. With plans to introduce digital content creation and delivery, MSP will produce a prominent shift from ESPN’s focus on flagship broadcasts and their core cable network. Increasing the number of competitions, delivering high end VIP experiences, and creating live interactive events are amongst a few ways MSP will build fan equity allowing access to communities viewing the best action-sports athletes.
